The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has provided USD 600,000 in new capital investments to two women-led agribusiness companies in Cambodia, enabling them to unlock new growth opportunities and contribute to the country’s inclusive and sustainable development.

The investments were made through ADB Frontier, which supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the potential for fast growth. They will help women-led Cambodian food processing company Two Parrots Enterprise (TPE), and women co-owned dairy processing company Khmer Milky Food (KMF), to scale production, strengthen local value chains, and create jobs.

“Investing in women-led enterprises can unlock far-reaching benefits for Cambodia’s economy,” said ADB Country Director for Cambodia, Yasmin Siddiqi. “By supporting their growth, we are building a more competitive and resilient agribusiness sector that creates opportunities for women, agriculture producers, and future generations.”

Cambodia's food manufacturing sector is growing, with a new generation of local businesses building products in categories once dependent on imports. TPE is Cambodia's leading local rice flour brand and the first to introduce rice-based instant noodles. KMF crafts quality cheese and yogurt from locally sourced milk, providing a fresh, preservative-free alternative to imported dairy products. Both companies source most of their raw materials from Cambodia and process them locally.

"These businesses are deeply rooted in Cambodia, sourcing locally, processing locally, and building value chains that keep economic opportunity within the country,” said ADB Frontier Investment Manager, Sophorn Kith.

ADB Frontier backs underserved enterprises transforming local industries by providing innovative and flexible financing tailored to the needs of small and growing businesses. Managed by ADB, it is cofinanced by the governments of Australia, Republic of Korea, and Switzerland along with other partners.

The investment in TPE will provide capital to procure raw materials in bulk during peak harvest seasons, improving cost efficiency and helping scale production as it enters export markets in Australia and New Zealand. The KMF investment will fund production equipment and packaging machinery, unlock capacity, and improve quality control.
