UNICEF continues to support the Ministry’s implementation of the circular strategy, aimed at helping Cambodia achieve cleanliness, greenness and sustainability while addressing climate change. Cambodia is also strengthening cooperation with relevant partners to enforce regulations on natural protected areas and forest conservation, while supporting community livelihoods and reforestation to increase green cover and contribute to the country’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
- Cambodia is set to celebrate Pchum Ben over the weekend, with provinces across the country, like Siem Reap, fully prepared to welcome domestic and international visitors with tourism services, attractions and appropriate security measures that will ensure a pleasant and safe holiday experience. Pchum Ben is the second biggest festival for the Cambodian people after the Khmer New Year and will be celebrated from October 10 to 12. Every year, during the festival period, Cambodian families and relatives, whether living nearby or far away, travel to their hometowns to reunite with parents and relatives and prepare food and offerings for monks at pagodas. The long-standing tradition provides an opportunity for people to make merit and express gratitude to their parents, grandparents and ancestors in accordance with Cambodian beliefs. The festival also plays an important role in preserving Cambodia’s traditions, customs, religious beliefs, culture and civilisation, which form an important part of the nation’s identity.
