  • We start with a quick look at regional markets. • On the main board, six stocks were up, led by ACLEDA Bank, while two stocks were down with Grand Twins International as the biggest loser of the day.
  • Over on the growth board DBD Engineering and JS Land were up, while Picasso City Garden was down.
  • Shifting to the exchange rate, the Khmer riel to USD weakened slightly to 4,062 riel per US Dollar, while the US Dollar index hovered around 102.22.
  • Looking at global commodities, oil prices were stable on Wednesday, with Brent ‌futures holding above $100 dollars a barrel, as investors weighed higher Gulf exports against ongoing supply risks from the Middle East conflict and a storm heading for oil-producing regions in the United States.
  • Brent crude futures rose 0.35% to $100.93 US dollars a barrel. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude gained 0.17% US dollars to $89.59. (0800 GMT)
  • Gold prices slipped on ‌Wednesday as the US dollar strengthened, while investors awaited minutes from the Federal Reserve's September meeting for clues on whether policymakers remain inclined to raise rates further.
  • Spot gold fell 0.8% to $4,130.37 per ounce. US gold futures dropped 0.7% to $4,157.00. (0627 GMT)
  • Looking at the crypto market, Bitcoin sharply fell below $84,000 US dollars, dropping $1,600 dollars in about 15 minutes and causing over $400 million dollars in liquidations of leveraged long positions. This rapid decline pressured major cryptocurrencies, with Ether down 3.5%, XRP down 2.7%, BNB down 2.3%, and Solana down 1.9%. The sell-off highlights how falling prices in derivatives markets can force leveraged traders to exit, amplifying market declines. This event underscores the volatility and interconnected risks in crypto trading.

  • Moving on now to other related news,
    • Cambodian interest in stock investing is surging, with 4,132 new trading accounts opened in September 2026, a new monthly record for the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) that surpasses the previous peak of 4,034 accounts set in September 2018. Annual Securities Conference 2026 held on September 29, H.E. Sou Socheat, Director General of the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC), shared that the daily trade volume on the CSX had begun to average between 1 to 2 million US dollars in September, with no fewer than 3,000 active buyers and sellers participating per day. He further highlighted that this recent surge was largely driven by retail and small investors, who accounted for about 85 per cent of the daily trade volume.
    • Cambodia and Saudi Arabia have agreed to strengthen tourism cooperation and work with Saudia Airlines to explore the possibility of establishing direct and regular flights between Cambodia and Riyadh, according to the Ministry of Tourism. The agreement was reached during a meeting held on October 6 between the Cambodian Minister of Tourism and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Saudi Arabia to Cambodia. In the meeting, H.E. Huot Hak expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s continued cooperation with Cambodia across various sectors. He said the Ministry of Tourism remains ready to strengthen and expand cooperation with Saudi Arabia, particularly in tourism, to make collaboration more effective and mutually beneficial. The minister said tourism is a priority sector and a key economic pillar for Cambodia, stressing that the country remains a safe, warm and hospitable destination for tourists from all markets.
    • Prime Minister Hun Manet said Cambodia has so far spent nearly $500 million dollars to help reduce the impact of rising fuel and electricity prices, stressing that the Cambodian government must remain prepared to address challenges under all circumstances. Addressing the celebration of the 80th founding anniversary of the University of Health Science in Phnom Penh on October 7, the Prime Minister said the Cambodian government’s measures to cushion fuel prices have helped prevent a much sharper increase in fuel costs for consumers. He said, “If we had not allocated the budget and effective measures to contain the increase, fuel prices could have risen by 9 to 10 percent over the current prices,” further adding that fuel prices have indeed increased, but the Cambodian government has taken measures to mitigate the impact on the public.
