  • We start with a quick look at regional markets. Asian stock markets mostly went up on Thursday. Japanese chip companies led the gains thanks to strong profits from Micron, while lower-than-expected U.S. inflation made investors confident that the U.S. Federal Reserve won't raise interest rates this month.
  • Japan’s Nikkei 225 jumped 3.3%, while the broader TOPIX edged up 0.7%. South Korea’s KOSPI rose 1.6%, with Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix  climbing 2.5% and 3%, respectively.
  • Zooming in on Cambodia’s market—the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index was down 41.11 points or 6.32% to 609.51.
  • Total trade volume was down with 2,935,674 shares changing hands at a total value of 10.7 billion riel or over $2.65 million US dollars.
  • On the main board, all stocks were down, with CAMGSM as the biggest loser of the day.
  • Over on the growth board, Picasso City Garden was up, DBD Engineering was down, while JS Land stayed flat.
  • Shifting to the exchange rate, the Khmer riel to USD strengthened slightly to 4,054 riel per US Dollar, while the US Dollar index hovered around 101.76.
  • Looking at global commodities, oil prices held firm on Thursday as recovering Gulf crude exports and a surprise rise in US inventories eased supply concerns, while investors assessed renewed US-Iran diplomatic efforts to end the ‌Middle East conflict.
  • Brent crude futures were up 0.6% to $98.67 US dollars a barrel, and US West Texas Intermediate crude rose 0.5% to $90.09 US dollars a barrel. (0704 GMT)
  • Gold rose on Thursday after a softer-than-expected US inflation report tempered expectations for a U.S. Federal Reserve rate ‌hike this month, with markets looking to upcoming jobs data for further policy signals.
  • Spot gold gained 0.8% to $4,187.43 US dollars per ounce, starting the month on a positive note after a more than 6% fall in September. US gold futures for December delivery firmed 0.7% to $4,217.50 US dollars. (0625 GMT)
  • Looking at the crypto market, Bitcoin was trading at $83,599.63 US dollars, down  0.1%.

  • Moving on now to other business-related news,
    • The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has provided $600,000 US dollars in new capital investments to two women-led agribusiness companies in Cambodia, enabling them to unlock new growth opportunities and contribute to the country’s inclusive and sustainable development. The investments were made through ADB Frontier, which supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the potential for fast growth. They will help women-led Cambodian food processing company Two Parrots Enterprise (TPE), and women co-owned dairy processing company Khmer Milky Food (KMF), to scale production, strengthen local value chains, and create jobs. Cambodia's food manufacturing sector is growing, with a new generation of local businesses building products in categories once dependent on imports. Two Parrots Enterprise is Cambodia's leading local rice flour brand and the first to introduce rice-based instant noodles. Khmer Milky Food crafts quality cheese and yogurt from locally sourced milk, providing a fresh, preservative-free alternative to imported dairy products. Both companies source most of their raw materials from Cambodia and process them locally.
    • Cambodia and Belarus have discussed nine areas for expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation, as the two countries reviewed progress under their existing cooperation framework. On September 30, a Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, and the First Deputy Minister of Industry of the Republic of Belarus, co-chaired the fifth meeting of the Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation (JCTEC) between Cambodia and Belarus in Minsk. The meeting was attended by about 25 senior officials and representatives from relevant ministries and institutions of both countries. The discussions focused on monitoring progress in implementing the bilateral trade and economic cooperation framework, while identifying new opportunities to expand cooperation across various sectors. The two sides held in-depth discussions on nine areas: industry; the supply of agricultural and food products; pharmaceuticals and medical equipment; civil aviation and air connectivity; finance and banking; science and technology; tourism, education and culture; bilateral trade; and business events and exchanges of visits between the two countries' business communities. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing work under the cooperation framework and translating it into tangible and effective outcomes.
    • Some 510,528 foreign tourists visited the famed Angkor Archaeological Park between January and September this year, down 27.61% compared to the same period in 2025, a report from the state-owned Angkor Enterprise showed on October 1. The Angkor Archaeological Park generated over $24.2 million US dollars from ticket sales in the first nine months of 2026, down 25.90% compared to the same period last year. In September alone, the park attracted some 35,535 international visitors, a year-on-year decline by 0.32%, but the revenue rose by 3.10% to almost $1.7 million US dollars.
