  • We start with a quick look at regional markets. Asian stocks surged on Monday as financial markets rallied hard on news that the United States and Iran have agreed to a framework for a peace deal to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz.
  • MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 2.4%.
  • South Korea’s Kospi jumped 5.1%, Japan’s Nikkei 225 climbed 3.6%, and the broader Topix advanced 2.6%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index rose 0.5%, while the Shanghai Composite gained 1.61%.
  • Zooming in on Cambodia’s market—the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index was up 0.72 points or 0.16% to 440.18. Total trade volume was down with 128,618 shares changing hands at a total value of 765.1 million riel or close to $191,000 US dollars.
  • On the main board, three stocks were up, led by CAMGSM, while four stocks were down, with Pestech Cambodia as the biggest loser of the day.
  • Over on the growth board, JS Land and Picasso City Garden were up, while DBD engineering stayed flat.
  • Shifting to the exchange rate, the Khmer riel to USD strengthened slightly to 4,025 riel per US Dollar, while the US Dollar index hovered around 99.59.
  • Moving on to global commodities, oil prices slipped to a 3-month low on Monday after U.S. ‌President Donald Trump and Iran's deputy foreign minister said they had reached an initial deal to end the war and to resume traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
  • Brent crude futures fell nearly 5% to $83.00 US dollars a barrel and U.S.
  • West Texas Intermediate was at $80.34, ​down 5.35%. Both contracts fell to their lowest levels since March 10 on Monday after tumbling more ​than 3% on Friday. (0840 GMT)
  • Gold prices ​rose to a near one-week high as a tentative peace agreement ‌between the U.S. and Iran pushed oil prices lower and eased some concerns of a U.S. Federal Reserve rate hike.
  • Spot gold rose 2.7% to $4,334.48 US dollars per ounce, hitting its highest level since June 9. ​U.S. gold futures for August delivery climbed 2.8% to $4,355.30. (0857 GMT)
  • Looking at the crypto market, Bitcoin rose about 2% to roughly $65,800, its highest level in nearly two weeks, after the United States and Iran reached a deal to end hostilities and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

     

  • Moving on now to other business-related news,
    • H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), led a high-level Cambodian delegation to hold a working meeting with the President of Corporate Relations at Samsung Electronics, during an official visit to the Samsung headquarters in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, on June 15. During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted Cambodia’s regional comparative advantages, emphasising how the Kingdom’s strategic positioning, favourable investment climate, and competitive benefits align with Samsung’s long-term strategic expansion plans.
    • Cambodia will continue to strengthen and modernise its technical and vocational education and training (TVET) system to keep pace with changing labour market demands both domestically and globally, said Prime Minister Hun Manet while speaking at the celebration of the 9th National TVET Day 2026 on June 15. The Prime Minister stressed that the Cambodian government places high priority on TVET as a key pillar for national development and human capital enhancement. He stressed that the country’s next step is to further upgrade skills development in the fields of artificial intelligence and innovation.
    • On June 14, the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce made an announcement inviting Cambodian traders and interested members of the public to take part in the "Vibrant Goa Global Expo and Summit 2026" from October 29 to 31 in Goa, India. The summit will feature an international expo, curated business matchmaking sessions, sector-focused conferences, innovation showcases, and networking platforms, with a strong emphasis on enabling businesses to expand globally and build sustainable partnerships. The exhibition focuses on innovation, new technologies, sharing knowledge, and creating international market connections with new business opportunities.
