  • Moving on now to other business-related news,
    • The Ministry of Commerce organised the 2026 Supply Chain Forum with the aim of strengthening direct linkages between local handicraft producers and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and distributors, potential buyers, supermarkets and digital commerce platforms on September 6. The forum brought together representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, relevant ministries and institutions, Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, business associations, companies, financial institutions, supermarkets, digital commerce platforms and other stakeholders across the supply chain. H.E. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, who presided over the event’s opening ceremony, described it as the Ministry of Commerce’s first initiative of its kind and an important pilot step toward facilitating and promoting domestic market and trade linkages. The one-day forum featured product and service exhibitions, business matchmaking, including G2B2B and B2B Speed Networking, business presentations, experience and case-study sharing on raw-material sourcing, and knowledge-sharing sessions on branding and product packaging.
    • The Cambodian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Romania recently held working talks with a Romanian State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bucharest to map out a comprehensive strategy for expanding bilateral relations, economic partnerships, and educational exchanges. During the meeting, the Cambodian Ambassador expressed his firm commitment to working closely with Romanian authorities to deepen ties throughout his diplomatic mission. Highlighting the enduring friendship between the two countries, the Ambassador underscored trade, investment, industry, technology, energy, and education as priority sectors for future cooperation. To translate these commitments into action, the Ambassador announced an upcoming visit by a Cambodian delegation led by an Under-Secretary of State from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which will include prominent business leaders. The delegation plans to engage with Romanian economic institutions and commercial representatives to explore practical trade and investment opportunities.
    • The Minister of Women’s Affairs, Her Excellency Dr Ing Kantha Phavi, declared female leadership an economic imperative and national priority for the ASEAN region at the “Khmer Women Voice 2026” event on September 5. Emphasising that leadership begins with self-worth and action rather than formal titles, Dr Kantha Phavi called for women to step forward as entrepreneurs, technology innovators, and key decision-makers across all sectors. To drive this transformation, the Minister outlined a five-point strategic roadmap focusing on STEM, financial, and digital literacy; fostering confidence and self-ownership; strengthening mentorship, sponsorship, and solidarity; driving institutional reform; and enforcing accountability through gender-disaggregated data. Concluding her address, she urged regional stakeholders to build a future where every woman and girl can learn with equality, participate without fear, and lead without apology.
