  • Moving on now to other business-related news,
    • ASEAN and ASEAN+3 public service leaders reaffirmed their collective commitment to building a responsive, efficient, and people-centered public service across the region, during a courtesy call to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on August 5. The meeting took place in Siem Reap province prior to the opening ceremony of the 23rd ASEAN Cooperation on Civil Service Matters (ACCSM) and the 8th ACCSM Plus Three Cooperation on Civil Service Matters. The Cambodian Prime Minister expressed confidence that the meetings would conclude with fruitful outcomes through the sharing of best practices and strengthened cooperation in public service among ASEAN and ASEAN+3 countries.
    • Cambodia pledged on August 5 to deepen regional dialogue and advance practical cooperation to ensure sustainable development across the Mekong-Lancang sub-region, according to the Asian Vision Institute (AVI). Speaking at the launch of the 2nd Mekong-Lancang Peace Boat Programme, AVI President Dr. Chheng Kimlong highlighted that while the sub-region boasts rich cultural diversity and economic potential, it faces increasingly complex transboundary challenges – including climate change, water resource management, environmental degradation, disaster risks, and shifting geopolitical dynamics. Building on the success of its inaugural phase, the second Peace Boat initiative provides a collaborative platform for government officials, policymakers, researchers, and young scholars to exchange insights and generate actionable policy recommendations for regional peace, resilience, and shared prosperity.
    • Cambodia exported 707,000 tonnes of milled rice in the first seven months of 2026, earning $415.12 million US dollars, according to a report released by the Cambodia Rice Federation on August 5.
