  • We start with a quick look at regional markets. Most emerging Asian stocks gained footing on Monday, led by strong gains in Taiwan and South Korea.
  • The MSCI EM Asia ‌gauge advanced more than 1.5% to hit a record high, largely driven by artificial intelligence stocks.
  • Taiwan's benchmark equities gauge surged more than 3%.
  • South Korea's ​main KOSPI index rose more than 2%, flirting with its record high set on Friday.
  • Japan’s Nikkei 225 ended up 1.55 percent.
  • Zooming in on Cambodia’s market—the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index was up 2.06 points or 0.46% to 445.18.Total trade volume was down with 292,755 shares changing hands at a total value of 1.7 billion riel or nearly $425,000 US dollars.
  • On the main board, four stocks were up, led by ACLEDA Bank, while two stocks were down, with Pestech Cambodia as the biggest loser of the day. Over on the growth board, DBD Engineering was up, JS Land was down and Picasso City Garden stayed flat.
  • Shifting to the exchange rate, the Khmer riel to USD remained stable at 4,024 riel per US Dollar, while the US Dollar index hovered around 100.87.
  • Moving on to global commodities, oil prices fell on Monday after U.S.-Iran talks concluded in Switzerland with Tehran saying ‌it had secured waivers for oil and petrochemical exports, easing worries about a supply shortage in global markets.
  • Brent crude was down 61 cents at $79.96 US dollars a barrel.
  • U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures were at $77.20 US dollars a barrel, up 60 cents, ahead of ⁠the contract's expiry later on Monday. The more-active August contract gained 19 cents to $76.04 US dollars a barrel. (0815 GMT)
  • Gold rebounded from a more than one-week ‌low, as oil prices fell after Iran cited progress in peace talks with the United States, though bets of higher interest rates after hawkish signals from the U.S. Federal Reserve weighed on ​the precious metal's outlook.
  • Spot gold was up 0.7% at $4,189.69 US dollars per ounce, after falling to its lowest level since June 11.
  • U.S. gold futures for August delivery fell 0.9% to $4,207.70 US dollars. (​0800 GMT)
  • Looking at the crypto market, Bitcoin started the week drifting near $64,000 US dollars, sitting out a rally in Asian equities as the US and Iran moved closer to a lasting peace deal. The token traded around $63,996 US dollars on Monday, down 0.4% over 24 hours and 2.2% on the week.

     

  • Moving on now to other business-related news,
    • Cambodia’s Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has announced nearly 5,000 job openings across four northeastern provinces, targeting migrant workers returning from Thailand and domestic job seekers. In a statement released on June 21, the Ministry confirmed 4,676 vacancies in northeastern provinces, spanning agriculture, industry, and services. Eligible applicants can find employer details, sector information, and contact numbers in official employment brochures. Returning migrants and other job seekers may also call the Ministry’s "1297" emergency hotline for placement assistance and employment coordination.
    • H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, presided over the “2026 Green Season Tourism Talk” on June 20, held under the theme “Tourism Potential, Heritage Sites, and Culture During the Green Season”. According to the ministry, Tourism Talk is a platform that helps to share knowledge and experiences in tourism development, while promoting Cambodia’s tourism potential and encouraging patriotism. The program also contributes to enhancing Cambodia’s image and showcasing to the world that Cambodia is a safe, welcoming, and hospitable tourism destination, offering warmth, excellent hospitality, and memorable experiences for visitors from around the globe.
    • Cambodia and Japan have signed an Exchange of Notes and related documents on the extension of a Japanese Yen Loan worth 24.237 billion Yen, or approximately $162.7 million US dollars, to support the implementation of the Southwest Phnom Penh Irrigation and Drainage Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (III). The agreement was signed on June 22 by H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, and H.E. Ueno Atsushi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Cambodia.
