Streamlining Checkout Across Cambodia With ABA's PaySound Feature
ABA Bank has officially launched a new voice alert feature called PaySound that audibly announces incoming payment amounts and currencies in real time.
Those running retail shops, managing bustling cafes, or overseeing restaurant checkouts will understand the hassle of confirming customer payments during peak hours. It is a minor daily friction point that, when multiplied by dozens of transactions an hour, slows down foot traffic and creates bottlenecks at checkout.
Looking to eliminate this operational headache, ABA Bank has rolled out PaySound, a new audio-verification feature designed to give merchants instant, real-time voice confirmations for incoming payments.
Available through ABA Mobile, the ABA Merchant app, and ABA POS terminals, PaySound acts as an audible cashier that automatically announces incoming transaction amounts and their corresponding currencies the exact second they land, meaning users no longer have to rely purely on visual push notifications or manual app refreshes.
Understanding the diverse demographic of business owners and consumers in Cambodia, ABA has also built PaySound to announce payments across three primary commercial languages: Khmer, English, and Chinese.
Built for High-Volume and Fast-Paced Operations
PaySound is designed for businesses of all sizes to materially minimise checkout misunderstandings, cut down on queue times, and give cashiers immediate confidence that a cashless transaction is successfully finalised.
For market vendors, street-food stalls, and delivery drivers whose hands are often physically full, a clear audio cue will eliminate the need to wipe down hands or dig into pockets just to pull out a smartphone.
In high-volume environments like cafés and convenience stores, front-line staff can keep their eyes on packing orders or serving the next customer in line, speeding up transaction times significantly.
Beyond formal businesses, individual peer-to-peer users who handle frequent incoming transfers can also leverage the audio alerts for a more hands-free banking experience.
The new feature has also been built directly into ABA’s existing infrastructure, with no need for additional devices, separate hardware, or extra maintenance.
“PaySound reflects ABA’s commitment to making digital payments simpler, clearer, and more practical for everyday use,” said Malypoeur Plong, VP/Chief Digital Product Officer at ABA Bank. “By providing instant voice confirmation of incoming payments, we help sellers and customers complete transactions with greater speed, confidence, and convenience.”
How to Turn On ABA PaySound
To turn on the new PaySound feature, users first need to ensure their respective ABA apps have been updated to their latest version. Once updated, simply navigate to the relevant app settings and toggle the PaySound feature on, also selecting the preferred language and voice profile.
With the launch of PaySound, ABA Bank continues to strengthen its digital payments ecosystem with practical innovations that help businesses operate more efficiently and make cashless payments faster, safer, and more convenient across Cambodia.
