- Moving on now to other business-related news:
- The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) and the National Bank of Rwanda (NBR) have jointly announced a "Cross-Border Payment Cooperation" between Cambodia and Rwanda. The signing took place during the 28th Conference of Central Bank Governors of Francophone Countries, held from May 28 to 31 in Phnom Penh, under the theme “Central Bank Autonomy in the Face of Public and State Expectations.” This cross-border payment cooperation demonstrates the shared commitment of both central banks to modernising their payment systems and promoting greater financial connectivity. It is also expected to further strengthen economic, trade, and tourism relations between Cambodia and Rwanda, while supporting broader regional and international financial integration.
- More than 8,000 job vacancies are currently available across three central lowland provinces in Cambodia, specifically targeting returning migrant workers from Thailand and local job seekers, according to the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training. The Ministry announced recently that as of May 30, a total of 8,357 employment opportunities have been secured in Kampong Cham, Kampong Chhnang, and Kampong Thom provinces. The available positions span key economic sectors, including agriculture, industry, and services. In addition to contacting employers directly, job seekers – particularly returning migrant workers – can reach out to the Ministry’s dedicated hotline at 1297 for job placement coordination and support services.
- The Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste officially launched the verify.gov.tl national portal in the capital city, Dili, on June 1. The ceremony marked a milestone achievement resulting from the implementation of the “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Fields of Post, Telecommunications, Information and Communications Technology, and Digital Transformation” between the Cambodian Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC) and Timorese MTC, signed on January 20, 2025. With the support of Cambodian Prime Minister, Hun Manet, the Cambodian MPTC deployed technical experts to assist with the development of verify.gov.tl for the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, based on Cambodia's award-winning document verification platform, verify.gov.kh. Timor-Leste has selected driver’s licences as the first official document to integrate a QR Code for authenticity verification through this national platform.
