Singapore has expressed strong interest in expanding agro-food imports from Cambodia as part of efforts to diversify its supply sources, highlighting growing economic cooperation between the two countries.

The interest was raised during a working dinner on April 8, 2026, between H.E. Cham Nimul, Cambodian Minister of Commerce, and H.E. Gan Kim Yong, Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry.

According to the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce (MoC), during the meeting, both sides highly valued the positive progress in bilateral trade, which has shown notable growth. They also exchanged views on export opportunities with the aim of further promoting and expanding Cambodia–Singapore trade relations.

Both sides also discussed the progress of negotiations on the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement, which is expected to boost the regional digital economy to USD 2 trillion by 2030.

On the afternoon of April 8, a delegation of Cambodian food producers interested in expanding their presence in Singapore's retail market also engaged in a business matching event in Singapore, led by H.E. Samheng Bora, Secretary of State and Chairman of the Export Promotion Task Force at the MoC, with support from the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).

The Cambodian delegation included representatives from the Cambodia Cashew Federation, Cambodia Rice Federation, and five food manufacturers – Ample Agro Products, One More Company, Misota Group, Khmer Foods Group and City Rice Import Export Co., Ltd. – who met with major Singaporean retailers, FairPrice Group (around 370 outlets nationwide) and Cold Storage (89 outlets, including Giant).

During the business matching session, both sides shared insights and engaged in discussions on the criteria, standards, and requirements for exporting Cambodian products to Singapore. Cambodian companies received valuable feedback to ensure their products meet international standards, improve quality, and strengthen competitiveness in the region.

The event also served as a key platform to promote and showcase Cambodian products internationally, aiming to increase product value, expand collaboration opportunities, and create sustainable export pathways.

The business matching session is expected to lead to concrete partnership agreements and significantly expand Cambodian exports to Singapore and other international markets.
