The Minister of Commerce, H.E. Cham Nimul, stressed the important role the private sector plays in boosting trade and driving national economic growth, during the annual general meeting of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) on January 28, 2026.

She highlighted key areas – increasing investment, diversifying exports and imports, enhancing competitiveness, and expanding participation in regional and global value and supply chains – that the private and public sectors can collaborate on, in alignment with the Cambodian government's commitment to deepening regional and global economic integration.

H.E. Cham Nimul added that the government continues to prioritise enhancing the business and investment climate in Cambodia, as well as achieving greater export-import market diversification, based on an approach of “Strengthening Old Markets and Expanding New Markets”.

She further remarked on the Ministry of Commerce's introduction and implementation of sharp reform measures, which allowed the ministry in 2025 to make significant progress on:

  • Completing ratification procedures and signing upgraded free trade agreements (FTAs)
  • Reviewing and addressing private sector concerns and requests through the public-private sector partnership dialogue
  • Modernising and simplifying the delivery of public services
  • Diversifying and enhancing the quality and prestige of local products through the protection of intellectual property (IP) rights.

H.E. Cham Nimul also outlined the Ministry of Commerce's trade direction and strategic vision for 2026, centred on three interconnected core pillars: institutional and systemic transformation, domestic trade development, and international trade expansion.
