On March 12, 2026, Metfone officially launched its smart solar power system for households and businesses in Cambodia, marking the company’s expansion into sustainable energy solutions. The new product enables customers to proactively manage their electricity supply, optimise operational costs, and move toward a greener lifestyle as energy demand continues to rise.

Metfone’s solar power system allows users to generate electricity from solar energy and store it intelligently for 24/7 use. During the day, electricity generated from solar panels is prioritised to power household appliances and business operations. Any surplus energy is stored in a dedicated battery system, allowing it to be used in the evening or during peak demand periods. Thanks to its modern operating mechanism, the system maximises energy efficiency and ensures a stable and continuous power supply under various conditions.

A Metfone representative stated:

The launch of the smart solar power system marks an important step in Metfone’s journey to expand beyond traditional telecommunications into digital and green energy solutions. Through this initiative, Metfone hopes to accompany Cambodia’s socio-economic development while contributing to a more convenient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly lifestyle for its people.

One of the key advantages of the solution is its ability to significantly reduce electricity costs in the long term. Instead of relying entirely on the national power grid, customers can utilise free energy from natural sunlight to reduce the burden of monthly electricity bills. At the same time, the system helps maintain stable operations even during power disruptions, which is particularly important for businesses such as shops, restaurants, clinics, and service facilities that depend heavily on electrical equipment.

To meet diverse market demands, Metfone offers three flexible capacity packages along with a full-service deployment process, from site survey and system design to installation and maintenance. The 6kW combo is designed for average households and small cafés, while the 8kW combo is suitable for larger households or mini hotels with higher electricity consumption. The 10kW combo targets villas and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) such as clinics, schools, or mini supermarkets—facilities that require stable electricity to maintain business operations and protect high-value electronic equipment.

As global energy supplies become increasingly constrained and electricity costs continue to fluctuate, energy independence is becoming an important trend for many countries with strong solar potential, including Cambodia. The adoption of solar energy solutions not only brings economic benefits to users but also contributes to reducing carbon emissions and promoting long-term sustainable development.
