Metfone 5G: Initial User Experience After One Week of Commercial Operation
From the very first moments of the New Year, as the clock struck midnight on January 1, 2026, and Metfone’s 5G service was officially launched for commercial use, a strong sense of excitement was evident across social media and user communities. Many users waited until exactly 00:01 to turn on their phones, check network coverage, and experience 5G in the very first minutes of the new year. This enthusiasm continued in the days that followed, as users began sharing their real-world impressions of speed and connectivity performance.
After one week of official operation, Metfone’s 5G network has received an increasing volume of feedback from users across the market. Initial observations indicate that 5G is gradually becoming part of everyday usage—from personal activities to work and business in Cambodia—rather than remaining a technology used only for trial purposes.
According to user feedback, Metfone’s deployment of 5G in areas with high data demand has made access to the new technology relatively convenient. Many users report a clear improvement in download speeds, network stability, and latency, particularly during continuous usage or bandwidth-intensive activities. At present, Metfone’s 5G network is operating with more than 300 sites across 20 of 22 branches and remains the only operator present in most provincial capitals. This broad presence enables users in many different localities to join the 5G experience from the early stages of deployment.
During actual use, feedback highlights a stable network experience with minimal interruptions, even during peak hours. Users note that high-quality video streaming, video calls, remote work, and online data processing are smoother, allowing greater efficiency and flexibility in both work and daily life.
On social media platforms, the sharing of 5G experiences has been vibrant, ranging from speed tests and livestreaming to other data-intensive activities. Many users consider Metfone 5G well suited to practical, real-life needs, especially in areas where coverage is already available. The presence of 5G in most provincial centres has also resulted in diverse regional feedback, rather than feedback concentrated only in major urban areas.
In addition, users have observed that familiar digital services such as CamID, eMoney, and TV360 operate more smoothly on the new connectivity platform, contributing to a more seamless and convenient digital experience in everyday life.
After one week of operation, initial feedback indicates that Metfone 5G has been received with a positive and enthusiastic mindset, closely aligned with concrete needs and practical efficiency. This provides a solid basis for continued monitoring, further network quality optimisation, and expanded coverage, in order to better meet Cambodia’s growing connectivity demands in the period ahead.
