The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MLVT) has announced that the number of people employed in Cambodia rose to approximately 10.7 million in 2025, marking a year-on-year increase of about 800,000 people.

Breaking down by sector, around 2.8 million people are employed in the agriculture sector, 3 million in broad industry (including manufacturing), and nearly 5 million in the services sector.

These numbers were shared by the Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, H.E. Heng Sour, during the opening ceremony of the MLVT's annual meeting to review the work results of 2025 and set the work direction for 2026, held on February 26, 2026, at the National Technical Training Institute.

The minister also noted that the number of registered enterprises in Cambodia has increased to 46,649, up by 1,851 compared to 2024. These enterprises employ approximately 2.2 million workers, an increase of 401,479 employees.

In regard to the large population of migrant workers returning from Thailand, the minister reported that around 620,000 of the nearly 1 million returnees have thus far successfully found domestic employment. He shared that the MLVT has introduced a comprehensive system of job matching, vocational training and social assistance, to help returnees transition back into the local labour market.

H.E. Heng Sour further affirmed the Cambodian government's overall commitment to developing the labour market and improving working conditions. He emphasised the government's focus on promoting the welfare of both formal and informal workers, in order to improve livelihoods and foster a vibrant business environment with sustainable investment opportunities.
