Cambodia-Laos Sign Transit and Transshipment Agreement Aiding Flow of Cambodian Agricultural Products to China
Cambodia and Laos have signed a new agreement on the Transit and Transshipment of Agricultural Products that will allow Cambodian agricultural goods to be transported through Laos to third countries, particularly China.
The agreement was signed on January 25, 2026, by H.E. Dith Tina, Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and H.E. Linkham Douangsavanh, Minister of Agriculture and Environment of Lao PDR, following their bilateral meeting in Phnom Penh.
“The transit and transshipment agreement… will open the way for Cambodia to transport agricultural products to the Chinese market by road through Laos in the near future. This is a new achievement in improving local connectivity, resulting from the close cooperation between the Ministries of Agriculture of the two countries,” said the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) in a statement shared via social media.
H.E. Minister Dith Tina also stressed opportunities for deeper cooperation with Laos, including value-chain integration, fertiliser supply, improved investment conditions, seed production, product standards, agricultural exhibitions and joint efforts in forest conservation and wildfire prevention.
Both ministers expressed strong commitment to further strengthening Cambodia-Laos cooperation to promote agri-trade, economic growth and shared benefits for the people of both countries.

A business networking meeting, chaired by H.E. Hong Narith, Under Secretary of State at the MAFF, was also held between Cambodian and Lao private sector actors on January 25, to promote investment, expand agricultural trade and improve production value chains for mutual benefit.
Participating Cambodian companies included WorldBridge Group, Vireak Buntham and several others, while seven Lao companies involved in agricultural exports and imports, farming, livestock, logistics and transport also attended.
H.E. Hong Narith encouraged businesses from both sides to build partnerships and explore joint ventures. He highlighted growing bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and Laos, particularly in agriculture, logistics, agro-processing and cross-border trade of products such as beef, poultry, eggs, longan, bananas and durian.
