Cambodia has launched a new Cambodia–China Tourism Debit Card and cross-border payment service, aimed at improving convenience for Cambodian, Chinese, and international tourists through seamless digital transactions.

The Minister of Tourism, H.E. Huot Hak, presided over the launch ceremony held at Raffles Hotel Le Royal Phnom Penh. The event was organised by the Bank of China, Phnom Penh Branch, with participation from representatives of the Chinese Embassy, the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), and key stakeholders from the tourism and financial sectors.

Officials highlighted the initiative as an innovative step forward in digitalising tourism and financial services, enabling tourists to make payments easily via QR systems across borders. The new service is part of broader Cambodia-China cooperation under the “Diamond Cooperation” framework, which promotes mutual benefit and deeper bilateral ties.

The tourism debit card is also expected to support the “Cambodia–China Tourism Year” campaign, helping to attract more Chinese and international visitors to the Kingdom.

H.E. Huot Hak expressed appreciation to the Chinese Embassy and the Bank of China for their continued cooperation in supporting Cambodia’s tourism development. He reaffirmed that ensuring the safety and security of tourists and foreign investors remains a top priority of the Cambodian Government.

The introduction of the cross-border payment system is expected to facilitate cashless transactions, modernise tourism services, and enhance Cambodia’s appeal as a convenient and investor-friendly destination.
