  • Moving on now to other business-related news,
    • The Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA) has officially released its Annual Report for 2025, highlighting a pivotal year of adaptation, resilience, and ethical growth within the Kingdom’s financial sector. Throughout 2025, Cambodia's banking and microfinance institutions successfully navigated an evolving economic landscape by sharpening their focus on responsible development, financial inclusion, and heightened consumer protection. Developed in close collaboration with the National Bank of Cambodia, industry members, and international development partners, the report details key initiatives aimed at building a more secure and sustainable financial ecosystem. In releasing the publication, the CMA extended its formal appreciation to all members and stakeholders for their continued partnership in fortifying Cambodia's financial future, noting that the full report is now accessible to the public and policymakers.
    • Cambodia and Laos reaffirmed their commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation in science, technology and innovation (STI), and micro, small and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) development. The commitment was underscored during a courtesy meeting between the Cambodian Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, and the newly appointed Ambassador of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Cambodia. The two sides discussed closer collaboration on STI policy, research, national quality infrastructure, and human resource capacity building. They also explored ways to strengthen regional connectivity, with the Ambassador highlighting the potential of the Lao-China Railway and improved cross-border transport links to facilitate trade, shorten logistics routes for agricultural exports, and boost tourism and people-to-people exchanges among Cambodia, Laos and China.
    • Over 4,000 delegates from more than 170 countries convened in Geneva on July 6 for the inaugural Global Dialogue on AI Governance, as international leaders confronted the accelerating gap between technological advancement and regulatory oversight. Representing Prime Minister Hun Manet, Cambodian Minister of Post and Telecommunications H.E. Chea Vandeth, delivered a keynote address outlining a strategic five-point framework to shape equitable and forward-looking international AI policy. Minister Vandeth articulated a comprehensive vision for global cooperation, emphasising that governance structures must balance innovation with accountability. The Geneva Dialogue marks a critical inflection point in multilateral efforts to codify the first truly global framework for artificial intelligence.
