  • We start with a quick look at regional markets. Asian stocks rose on Wednesday for the first time in three sessions, as cheaper oil eased some of the pressure on investors who are waiting for a key US inflation reading.
  • The MSCI Asia Pacific Index gained 0.4%. Japan and South Korea led the advance. The Nikkei 225 climbed 1.56%, while South Korea's Kospi rose 0.65%. Hang Seng futures, however, slipped 0.3%, pointing to a softer start for Hong Kong.
  • Zooming in on Cambodia’s market—the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index was up 28.29 points or 4.55% to 650.62.

  • On the main board, two stocks were up, led by CAMGSM, while five stocks were down, with Pestech Cambodia as the biggest loser of the day.
  • Over on the growth board, DBD Engineering was up, and Picasso City Garden and JS Land were down.
  • Shifting to the exchange rate, the Khmer riel to USD strengthened slightly to 4,055 riel per US Dollar, while the US Dollar index hovered around 101.26.
  • Looking at global commodities, oil prices steadied on Wednesday but ‌remained on track for a big monthly gain as US-Iran talks aimed at ending their war stalled, while tight fuel markets continued to underpin prices despite recovering Middle East crude supplies.
  • The Brent futures November contract, which expires on Wednesday, was down 0.2% to $102.43 US dollars a barrel. The more active December contract was down 18 cents to $95.98 US dollars. US West Texas Intermediate crude was up 2 cents to $89.40 US dollars. (0811 GMT)
  • Gold prices firmed but were headed for a monthly loss as expectations of ‌higher interest rates weighed on sentiment, while investors awaited US inflation data for clues on the U.S. Federal Reserve's next policy move.
  • Spot gold rose 0.4% at $4,195.56 US dollars per ounce, but has lost over 5% so far this month. US gold futures gained 1.1% to $4,227.50 US dollars. (0708 GMT)
  • Looking at the crypto market, Bitcoin traded around $83,100 to $83,238 USD , with options traders increasingly betting on prices rising above $90,000, targeting strike prices at $95,000 and $100,000.

  • Moving on now to other business-related news,
    • Cambodia’s monthly minimum wage for workers in the garment, footwear, and travel goods (GFT) sectors will increase to $212 US dollars per month, effective from January 1, 2027. The decision follows tripartite negotiations by the National Council for Minimum Wage, where employers proposed $210 dollars and trade unions requested $225 dollars. After a vote, the $210 dollar figure won overwhelmingly with 47 out of 51 votes. Taking into account the livelihoods of workers and employees, Prime Minister Hun Manet decided to add $2 dollars to the negotiated figure, bringing the official minimum wage to $212 dollars per month.
    • The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MLVT) and AQA Global Assessment Services of the United Kingdom have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in skills development and improve the quality of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Cambodia. The MoU was signed during a meeting between H.E. Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, and the Director of International Affairs of AQA Global Assessment Services, at the Ministry on September 29. The meeting focused on exchanging views on TVET development through the development of training standards packages, TVET assessment and quality assurance, as well as establishing networks between TVET institutions in Cambodia and the United Kingdom.
    • Cambodia has been named “Asia’s Leading Youth Travel Destination 2026” at the 33rd World Travel Awards, held on September 27, at CROSSROADS Maldives, coinciding with the celebration of World Tourism Day, according to the Ministry of Tourism. The recognition marks Cambodia’s fifth consecutive year receiving the title of Asia’s Leading Youth Travel Destination. The Ministry of Tourism said the achievement reflects Cambodia’s rich tourism potential, warm hospitality, security and safety, and vibrant cultural heritage, which continue to attract international visitors seeking to explore and experience the Kingdom. The award was presented as part of the 33rd World Travel Awards, an international tourism awards programme recognising excellence across the global travel and tourism industry.
