  • We start with a quick look at regional markets. Asian shares mostly fell on Tuesday following Wall Street losses, while U.S. Treasury yields paused their runup after reaching their highest level in roughly two decades.
  • Japan’s Nikkei 225 lost 0.6%. South Korea’s Kospi declined 0.3%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng dropped 0.4%. The Shanghai Composite index was up 0.2%. Taiwan’s Taiex was 0.8% lower, while India’s Sensex fell 0.6%.
  • Zooming in on Cambodia’s market—the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index was up 26 points or 4.36% to 622.33.
  • Total trade volume was up with 1,783,927 shares changing hands at a total value of 6.94 billion riel or over $1.71 million US dollars.
  • On the main board, four stocks were up, led by CAMGSM, while three stocks were down, with Grand Twins International as the biggest loser of the day.
  • Over on the growth board, DBD Engineering and Picasso City Garden were up, while JS Land stayed flat.
  • Shifting to the exchange rate, the Khmer riel to USD strengthened slightly to 4,056 riel per US Dollar, while the US Dollar index hovered around 101.39.
  • Looking at global commodities, oil prices rose for a second ‌successive session on Tuesday as lingering concern over Middle East supply disruption brought about by the US-Israeli war on Iran outweighed signs of recovering crude exports from the region.
  • Brent crude futures for November rose 0.2% to $105.47 US dollars a barrel, while the more actively traded Brent December contract rose to $97.94 US dollars a barrel. Meanwhile, US West Texas Intermediate crude was at $92.82 US dollars, up 22 cents. (0844 GMT)
  • Gold prices edged higher ‌on Tuesday after hitting a more-than-seven-week low in the previous session, as investors watch for US economic data that could offer clues on the U.S. Federal Reserve's interest rate outlook.
  • Spot gold rose 0.6% to $4,140.10 US dollars per ounce, after hitting its lowest level since August 5 on Monday. US gold futures gained 0.1% to $4,171.60 US dollars. (0856 GMT)
  • Looking at the crypto market, Bitcoin traded at $83,897 US dollars on September 29, rising 0.83% amid a tight price range and strong technical support above key moving averages. Binance experienced its largest single-day Bitcoin outflow since 2023, with over 13,800 BTC withdrawn on September 22, reducing its reserves by about 20,000 BTC over four days. This suggests investors are moving coins to personal wallets for long-term holding, indicating accumulation.

  • Moving on now to other business-related news,
    • The Dissemination Forum on Achievements of the Non-Bank Financial Services Authority in the First Mandate, and the Annual Securities Conference 2026, were held on September 29 at the Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel. H.E. Sou Socheat, Director General of the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC), stated during the press conference that protecting all investors is the SERC’s non-negotiable priority. He stressed that there are laws and policies in place to ensure that all investors are safe when buying shares in Cambodia. Moving forward, the SERC expressed a remaining commitment to driving securities sector development, innovation, and investor protection.
    • Cambodia will host the Black Swan Summit for the first time in November, bringing together high-level stakeholders to discuss how technology can strengthen financial and economic connections between ASEAN and Francophone markets. The summit will be co-organised by the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) and the Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN), in collaboration with the Cambodian Association of Finance and Technology. It will take place in Phnom Penh from November 15-16, alongside the 20th Francophonie Summit.
    • Cambodia and New Zealand have discussed opportunities to further expand bilateral trade and cooperation through the effective implementation of free trade agreements, including the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area (AANZFTA). The discussions took place on September 28 during a meeting between Cambodian Minister of Commerce, H.E. Cham Nimul, and New Zealand’s newly appointed Ambassador to Cambodia. The two sides recalled the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and New Zealand, particularly in trade, and noted the growth in bilateral trade between the two countries. They discussed opportunities to further promote trade and deepen bilateral cooperation through the full and effective implementation of the various free trade agreements to which both countries are parties.
