- We start with a quick look at regional markets. Asian markets surged as oil prices plunged following comments from U.S. President Donald Trump indicating that negotiations to resolve the U.S.-Iran conflict are moving forward constructively, bringing hope for a reopened Strait of Hormuz.
- The Nikkei 225 , it was up 2.87% closing at at 65,158.
- The S&P/ASX 200 closed up Monday, gaining 35.00 points or 0.40% to 8,692.00.
- However, an average daily transactions in Korea's benchmark index outperformed 26.4 billio US dollar for the first time this month amid a record-breaking market rally.
- Zooming in on Cambodia’s market—the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index was up 0.85 points or 0.02 % to 432.31.
- Total trade volume was down with 125,219 shares changing hands at a total value of 593.05 million riel or close to $147,000 US dollars.
- On the main board, only one stock was up, with CAMGSM, while five stocks were down,with Grand Twins International as the biggest loser of the day.
- Over on the growth board, JS Land and Picaso City Garden were up, while BDB Engineering stayed flat.
- Shifting to the exchange rate, the Khmer riel to USD weakened slightly to 4,025 riel per US Dollar, while the US Dollar index hovered around 99.04.
- Turning to global commodities, oil prices crashed sharply on Monday, as optimism grew that the United States and Iran were moving closer to a peace deal, even though they remain at odds over key issues such as blockades on the Strait of Hormuz. Brent crude futures were down $5.09, or 4.9%, to $98.45 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures were at $91.38 a barrel, down $5.22, or 5.4%. (0705 GMT)
- Gold prices rose more than 1% on Monday, as optimism for a breakthrough in U.S.-Iran peace negotiations weakened the dollar and eased oil prices, which softened the inflation outlook.
- Spot gold was up 1.1% at $4,557.46 per ounce, as of U.S. gold futures for June delivery gained 0.8% to $4,558.80. ( 0542 GMT )
- Looking at the crypto market, the leading cryptocurrency by market value traded near $77,200, up 0.4%. At that level, bitcoin was trading just above its widely tracked 50-day simple moving average of around $76,940.

- On May 25, 2026, Commerce Minister Her Excellency Cham Nimul met with a delegation from Zhisheng Energy, Guansheng Group, and Mainland Group to discuss business operations. During the meeting, the company representatives briefed the Minister on their long-term vision and strategic plans for investing in the agro-industrial sector. Specifically, they highlighted their focus on processing Cambodia's high-potential agricultural products, such as cashew nuts and cassava, for export to international markets. The Minister of Commerce stated that the Royal Government of Cambodia is continuously improving the business and investment climate to ensure it remains highly dynamic and competitive. She also emphasized the indispensable role of the private sector as the primary engine driving economic growth and actively contributing to the nation's socio-economic development.
- On May 25, 2026, the Minister of Civil Service meet with Ambassador of Laos to Cambodia to exchange views on strengthening and expanding the bonds of friendship, bilateral relations, and long-standing cooperation between the two countries. Both sides shared mutual experiences regarding their respective national development paths, particularly the public administration reform efforts currently being implemented in both nations. They also encouraged people-to-people exchanges, especially among the younger generation, to continue nurturing the spirit of good neighborliness, traditional friendship, and the comprehensive and long-standing strategic partnership between Cambodia and Laos. Furthermore, they emphasized strengthening cooperation at the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam trilateral level, which is built upon a solid historical foundation.
- May 25, 2026, His Excellency Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, attended a ministerial luncheon with Ms. Lisa Wright, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Head of the Delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The Minister expressed his gratitude to the ADB for its continuous partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia and highly valued its support for Cambodia's development priorities, particularly in promoting inclusive growth, skills development, private sector development, digital transformation, and economic diversification. Heng Sour also highlighted Cambodia's readiness to strengthen cooperation with the ADB on TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) reforms, industry partnerships, labor market information, green and digital skills, as well as the new educational pathway program, which aligns with the upcoming Cambodia Industrial Development Policy 2026–2035....
