  • We start with a quick look at regional markets. Asian stocks found their footing in ​unsteady trading on Tuesday as investors shrugged off doubts about the durability of a Middle East ceasefire to return to favoured ‌AI plays. 
  • MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.4% after fluctuating between gains and losses as trading commenced. 
  • Regional declines were led by Korean shares tumbling as much as 3.3% after an initially higher open, while gains for shares in China and Hong Kong steadied the regional benchmark. 
  • In Japan, the Nikkei 225 slumped 0.7%.
     
  • Zooming in on Cambodia’s market—the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index was up 0.4 points or 0.09% to 432.98. 
  • Total trade volume was up with 160,837 shares changing hands at a total value of 791.1 million riel or nearly $197,000 US dollars.
  • On the main board, three stocks were up, led by Royal Group Phnom Penh SEZ, while two stocks were down, with Grand Twins International as the biggest loser of the day. 
  • Over on the growth board, DBD Engineering was up, Picasso City Garden was down and JS Land stayed flat.
     
  • Shifting to the exchange rate, the Khmer riel to USD remained stable at 4,026 riel per US Dollar, while the US Dollar index hovered around 99.09.
     
  • Moving on to global commodities, oil prices fell more ​than 1% on Tuesday, paring the previous session's sharp gains, after U.S. President Donald Trump said talks with Iran ‌were ongoing. 
  • Brent crude futures were down 1.6% to $93.46 US dollars a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate fell 1.6% to $90.73 US dollars a barrel. (0813 GMT)
  • Gold rose more than 1% on Tuesday, buoyed by lower ‌U.S. Treasury yields, while weaker oil prices eased fears of higher inflation and elevated interest rates. 
  • Spot gold rose 1% to $4,525.72 US dollars per ounce. 
  • U.S. gold futures for August delivery gained 1.1% to $4,556 US dollars. (0900 GMT)
     
  • Looking at the crypto market, Bitcoin fell below $70,000 US dollars on Tuesday, extending a weeklong slide as markets digested Strategy’s first disclosed bitcoin sale and broader risk assets paused near record highs. 
  • Strategy sold 32 bitcoins for $2.5 million US dollars to fund preferred stock distributions, a move seen as symbolically important even though it is small relative to the company’s overall holdings.
     
  • Moving on now to other business-related news:
    • The National Bank of Cambodia, the Reserve Bank of India, ACLEDA Bank and NPCI International Payments Limited officially launched the first phase of Cross-Border QR Code Payments Between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of India on June 2 at the Rosewood Phnom Penh. In Phase 1, Indian travellers can now officially use their UPI enabled apps to scan KHQR codes and seamlessly make payments in Cambodia. This payment connection is expected to help boost trade and tourism for both nations. In the near future, Phase 2 of the cross-border QR code payment connection will enable Cambodian travellers in India to scan more than 709 million UPI QR codes to make merchant payments conveniently using their Cambodian payment apps.
    • The Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) and the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on partnership cooperation to advance development in the tourism and rural sectors, aiming to strengthen collaboration and improve livelihoods in rural communities across Cambodia. The MoU was signed by the Minister of Rural Development and the Minister of Tourism on June 1. According to the Ministry of Rural Development, the MoU seeks to enhance and expand cooperation between the two ministries to promote the development of community-based tourism and rural communities in a more prosperous, sustainable, and inclusive manner.
    • The National Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation has completed a field study in Kampong Thom province aimed at improving cashew harvesting and processing through technological innovation, according to a statement from the Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia (CAC) on June 2. The three-day mission, conducted from May 27 to 29, involved consultations and in-depth interviews with relevant government departments, industry stakeholders, six model cashew farmers and several major cashew processing enterprises operating in the province. According to NISTI, the information gathered during the study will contribute to the development and implementation of technologies designed to improve productivity, processing efficiency, quality standards and the overall competitiveness of Cambodia’s cashew industry.
