The European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) in Cambodia and its Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Committee is organising FMCG Forum 2026 on January 30 at the Fairfield by Marriott Phnom Penh.
Cambodia's dynamic consumer market is experiencing significant transformation, driven by regional trade developments, shifting consumer preferences, and growing concerns around product authenticity. Recent events, including the Cambodia–Thailand border situation, have further affected trade flows, consumer sentiment, and market dynamics across multiple sectors.
The forum aims to address key challenges, including:
- Regulatory Compliance & Enforcement: The government has strengthened its commitment to enforcing consumer protection and regulatory compliance. This includes updates on progress to date and planned initiatives related to product registration, retail practices, import procedures, and other compliance areas.
- Consumer Awareness Gaps: Many consumers lack awareness of product origins, labelling requirements, and safety information.
- Market Disruptions: Product-boycott impacts and border tensions have influenced purchasing behaviour and shifted consumer preferences.
- Emerging Market Players: Understanding new entrants that are filling market gaps and reshaping competition.
- Illicit Trade & Counterfeit Products: The rise of unverified or counterfeit goods, especially within the food sector.
