Wing Bank Sets New Gold Standard for Client Protection in Cambodia
Wing Bank has formalised its position as a leader in ethical finance by achieving the Gold-Level Client Protection Certification from MicroFinanza Rating (MFR). This accreditation represents the highest tier of recognition within the global framework for responsible financial practices, indicating that the institution’s operations are fully aligned with international rigorous standards.
The certification follows an extensive independent audit of Wing Bank’s internal processes, resulting in a finding of 100 per cent compliance with global client protection benchmarks. This milestone underscores the bank’s commitment to safeguarding depositor interests and maintaining a secure environment for retail and corporate savings.
The Gold-Level Certification is issued by MFR, a prominent global rating agency specialising in inclusive and responsible finance. The assessment measures an institution’s ability to integrate client protection into its corporate culture and delivery channels, ensuring that financial services are provided in a fair and transparent manner.
According to Arunava Dasgupta, Chief Customer Experience Officer at Wing Bank, the certification is a reflection of the bank’s deep-seated operational philosophy rather than a singular achievement.
"The certification is a testament towards the global client protection standards that we have always maintained as an organisation,” said Dasgupta. “We are a fully Cambodian bank, we are owned by a Cambodian, and we are absolutely always fully committed to the growth and protection of Cambodia as a whole.”
By meeting the stringent criteria set by MFR, Wing Bank demonstrates that local financial institutions are capable of operating at the same level of integrity as those in more mature global markets. This recognition, therefore, serves to bolster the credibility of the Cambodian financial sector on the international stage.
Wing Bank has affirmed that it continues to enhance cybersecurity through multi-factor authentication, data encryption, real-time threat monitoring, and incident response readiness. The bank’s systems align with global standards, including SWIFT CSP and PCI DSS, which are essential for secure international payments and card operations.
