Sunway Medical City Expo 2026 Launches New Chapter in Healthcare Cooperation Between Cambodia–Malaysia
Sunway Medical City Expo 2026 was held for the first time on January 30 at AEON Mall Sen Sok City, promoting cooperation between Cambodia and Malaysia in the healthcare sector and other key areas, including trade, tourism, and investment.
The expo’s opening ceremony was presided over by H.E. Samheng Bora, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce (MOC), and representative of H.E. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce. The event was attended by H.E. Shaharuddin Onn, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Cambodia; Dr. Khoo Chow Huat, Director of Hospitals and Healthcare Services of Sunway Healthcare Group; as well as other distinguished guests from relevant ministries and institutions, and Malaysian and Cambodian companies.
During his opening remarks, H.E. Samheng Bora stressed that the Sunway Medical City Expo plays an important role in promoting healthcare cooperation between Cambodia and Malaysia, while also contributing to strengthening people-to-people connectivity.
The expo provides new opportunities in healthcare and medical tourism, particularly expanding options for Cambodian citizens to access high quality healthcare services in Malaysia at competitive prices, providing an alternative to existing popular healthcare destinations in the region.
Bilateral trade between Cambodia and Malaysia surged 25 per cent to over USD 1 billion in 2025, and the MOC Secretary of State said he is confident that 2026 will bring continued growth, driven by enhanced government cooperation and platforms such as the Cambodia Trade Expo and other exhibitions.
H.E. Samheng Bora concluded by commending the new partnerships between Sunway Medical Centre and AirAsia Cambodia, FTB Bank, and Forte Insurance. He urged the private sectors of both nations to leverage the expo to identify new opportunities and forge further strategic alliances.
