The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) officially approved a project to set up a plywood factory  in the Koh Kong Zhejiang Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on February 16, 2026.

With an investment capital of USD 4 million, the project is expected to create 196 jobs and directly benefit residents of Srae Ambel District, Koh Kong Province.

Dedicated to plywood manufacturing, the approved factory project aligns with a growing trend in Cambodia’s SEZs to shift toward high-value wood processing, such as for furniture and flooring, rather than exporting raw timber.

In accordance with the Cambodian Law on Investment, the CDC issued an Investment Registration Certificate for the project, effective from the date of signing, officially recognising the Koh Kong Zhejiang SEZ plywood factory as a ‘Qualified Investment Project’ (QIP).
