This is a B2B Cambodia Market Update for 20 June 2024, reviewing the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) and global markets.

- The Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) Index was up today by 0.55 points or 0.13 per cent to 408.28.
- Total trade volume was down today, less than half of yesterday’s volume, to 90,183 shares changing hands at a total trade value of 395 million Khmer riel, or roughly $95,800 US dollars.
- Four stocks in the main board were up today, with Grand Twins International leading, up 1.72 per cent or 40 riel to 2,360 riel per share, followed by the Phnom Penh Autonomous Port, which was up 1.26 per cent or 160 riel to 12,880 riel per share. The Sihanoukville Autonomous Port was up 0.33 per cent and ACLEDA Bank was up 0.27 per cent.
- On the downside, Royal Group Phnom Penh SEZ was down 0.6 per cent or 10 riel to 2,180 riel per share while the Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority was down 0.29 per cent or 20 riel to 6,980 riel per share.
- On the growth board, DBD Engineering remained flat, while JS Land was on the downward trend with a 6.76 per cent decrease or 250 riel to 3,450 riel per share.
- ACLEDA Bank recorded the highest trade volume of the day with 31,446 shares changing hands at a value of 236.6 million Khmer riel or roughly $57,400 US dollars, accounting for around 28 per cent of all shares traded on June 20th. Meanwhile, MJQ Education was the second biggest traded company of the day, with 17,335 shares changing hands at a value of 35.2 million Khmer riel or $8,554 US dollars
- In other business news, the debut Fortune Southeast Asia 500 list was recently released, based on the latest fiscal year revenues ending on or before December 31, 2023, and featured two Cambodian companies – ACLEDA Bank and NagaCorp, which ranked 315th and 449th respectively. Indonesian companies were the most dominantly represented among the top 500, with 110 entries. While only two Cambodian companies are listed on this inaugural list, it’s still a major recognition as only seven of the 10 ASEAN member countries were represented.
- The Khmer riel to USD exchange rate remained the same at 4,120 riel per US dollar, while the US dollar index was slightly up to 105.47.
- Brent oil futures were steady on Thursday, hovering slightly below seven-week highs as the market awaited U.S. inventory data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), a day later than usual because of the Juneteenth holiday in the U.S. on Wednesday.
- August Brent crude rose by 32 cents, or 0.38 per cent, to $85.39 US dollars per barrel
- Gold prices meanwhile touched a two-week high, with Spot gold up 0.5 per cent at $2,337.87 US dollars per ounce, after hitting its highest since June 7 earlier in the session.
- U.S. gold futures also rose 0.2 per cent to $2,351.30 US dollars.
- Asian stocks were mixed in thin trading on Thursday after U.S. markets were closed, while U.S. futures point to further gains for stocks, after Nvidia powered the S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 to record highs ahead of Wednesday’s Juneteenth holiday.
