This is a B2B Cambodia Market Update for 15 May 2024, reviewing the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) and global markets.

- The Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) Index was up 0.20 points, or 0.05 per cent, to 414.51.
- Trading Volume also increased slightly to 161,998 shares changing hands, still quite light,
- Trading value of around 219,800 US dollars, or 894.4 million Khmer Riel.
- ACLEDA Bank Plc. recorded the highest percent rise today, by 0.78 per cent or 60 riel per share to a share price of 7,800 riel.
- ACLEDA Bank Plc. also recorded the largest trading volume of the day, with 91,832 shares trading hands.
- The only other stock to see a price increase was the Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority, which rose by 0.56 per cent or 40 riel per share to 7,180 khmer riel.
- Grand Twins International was today’s biggest loser, dropping 2.15 per cent or 50 riel per share to 2,280 riel per share.
- CAM GSM Plc., the Phnom Penh Autonomous Port and Sihanoukville Autonomous port also saw price drops, with the latter recording the lowest trade volume as well with only 37 shares traded, while the rest of the Main Board remained flat.
- On the Growth Board JS Land Plc. saw a 0.5 per cent drop of 20 riel per share to 3,970 riel per share,
- DBD Engineering Plc.’s stock remained the same.
- In other market news, the Phnom Penh Autonomous Port released its unaudited report for the first quarter of 2024, detailing a revenue of over USD $11.2 million, which was a 13 per cent increase from the same period in 2023.
- KHR Riel to USD weakened slightly more to 4,079 with the US dollar index slightly down 20 cents to around 104.82 from May 14th.
- Oil prices rose on Wednesday on expectations for higher demand as the U.S. dollar weakened. Brent crude futures were up 51 cents, or 0.6 per cent, at USD $82.89 a barrel and U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose 55 cents, or 0.7 per cent, to USD $78.57 a barrel.
- Gold prices remained unchanged on Wednesday as investors eagerly awaited a crucial U.S. inflation report that could provide insights into the Federal Reserve's approach to interest rate cuts.
- Spot gold held its ground at USD $2,359.99 per ounce, trading in a narrow 6 dollar range, after gaining 1 per cent on Tuesday. U.S. gold futures rose 0.2 per cent to USD $2,365.5.
- While the CSX was closed on Tuesday, May 14th, for a national holiday commemorating His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni’s birthday, US Stocks rose following the release of fresh economic data, while investors still waited for another key inflation report.
- The Nasdaq Composite gained 0.75 per cent and notched a fresh closing record of 16,511.18.
- The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 126.6 points, or 0.32 per cent, to end at 39,558.11
- And the S&P 500 added 0.48 per cent, closing at 5,246.68.
